Hi, I’m Hannah Oakley Hakim.
I first trained as a doula in 2009, after the birth of my (much) younger brother. Watching my mother's experience ignited something in me: I wanted to help birthing people own their births and step into parenthood with confidence.
That calling led me to study Maternal and Child Health at Boston University, where I earned a Master of Public Health. Since then I've worked in public health policy with one consistent goal — to transform a birthing system that too often ignores the voice of the person giving birth.
I believe birth doesn't fit the typical medical model. There's no timeline for labor, and there's no timeline for postpartum. What there is, is a need — and an obligation — for our village to show up for new parents. Not just so they survive, but so they thrive.
I am currently serving the MetroWest Boston area.

My Approach
Serving pregnant and postpartum families is messy, raw, and vulnerable - I approach this work with humility and respect. I provide non-judgmental support in the home for the whole family. I build confidence and reduce fears in the postpartum period and to tackle anything that gets in the way of you being the parent you want to be.
Alma means soul
The word “alma” means soul or heart across many different languages. At the core of my work is trust and connection with each individual and family unit. I do this work with my whole heart and soul. Birth work is truly soul work for me!
Healing inside and out
After giving birth, our bodies are physically and emotionally depleted. While recovery may take years (not six weeks!) and completely transform you - I work with you to get off to the best possible start with confidence and joy.
